The debate over holiday lets is continuing to rumble on, much to the annoyance of property owners here in the Balearics as the goal posts keep being changing.
Palma.—The new Balearic Tourism Law, due to be approved before Christmas, is expected to have clear and concise rules and regulations controlling the holiday rental sector, but what people are concerned about is that the government, under pressure from the hoteliers, will move more towards prohibition as opposed to simple regulation.
All year the debate has been raging about holiday lets in the Balearics with the current laws being unclear and confusing.
However, Catalonia, has appeared to have got a grip of the situation and, considering that the self catering, holiday home rental market is a very lucrative part of the tourist industry, and is continuing to grow, in order to regulate the market.
