The number of Palma residents and visitors using the local tube services declined in August by 1,2 percent compared with August 2013. In total 33, 000 citizens used the tube this year that month.
On the other hand, there was a two percent surge in other public transports, the National Statistics Institute confirmed yesterday.
Palma was the only city where tube figures declined, with Seville registering the biggest increase, 6,3 percent.
On a national level, bus users grew all over the country except in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
Overall, a total of 264,8 million citizens used Spanish public transport services last August- urban, intercities, special or occasional- a decline of 0,3 percent compared with the same period the year before.
