Palma.—Palma City Council announced yesterday that since the new citizen’s law was introduced in the Playa de Palma three months ago, a total of 18,000 euros has been collected in fines.8,251 euros worth of fines were handed out to illegal masseurs and con men.
The Councillor for Tourism and Social Order, Alvaro Gijon, said that 286 fines were handed out to people for drinking alcohol in public, 688 to illegal souvenir street traders, 574 for illegal street vendors of drinks and 538 to illegal beach masseurs.
What is more, a total of 17,000 fake sun glasses were confiscated along with 6,000 bracelets, 5,000 drinks, 2,2000 hats and over 550 items of food all being sold illegally in the holiday resort.
