Palma.—The investigation into alleged extortion by members of the Calvia Local Police force could become a very long and drawn out affair.
With the former Chief of Calvia Local Police, Jose Antonio Navarro Muñoz in jail with two of his officers, on remand under the suspicion of having allegedly favoured certain business people in Magalluf, primarily in calle Punta Ballena, while extorting others, it appears that this kind of allegedly corrupt practice may well have been going on for a number of years.
Sources close to the investigation have claimed that the allegedly illegal activities of certain members of the local police were brought to the attention of previous mayors, but little or no action was taken.
