Palma.—The Balearics isthe region in Spain with the highest percentage of “no-nos” youngsters: under 25’s with no job or are not studying.
According to an international financial analysis entity (AFIS) which published the report yesterday, there are currently 22,588 youngsters in that situation representing almost 23 percent of the total under 25’s in the region.
The figures raised the alarm in the region since they are considerably above the national average of 17.2 percent.
Over 20 percent of young people in the Balearics, Andalusia and the Canary Islands are in a similar situation the reports showed.
The majority have dropped out of school early and can not find a job.
The Balearics is the second highest ranked region in the country with 30.1 percent of school drop outs, much higher than the rest of the country’s average, 24.9 percent.
