The decision to introduce paid parking in Puerto Portals has been welcomed by restaurant owners in the port who claim it will be good for business.
Palma.—The new parking rules are due to come in to force from Tuesday, once the barriers and ticket machines have been checked to be all in working order.
The first two hours will be free and then the parking rates will rise progressively the longer people are parked in the port.
The highest fare is 72 euros for 24 hours, the similar amount will have to be paid should a parking ticket be lost.
Tickets will be collected from a machine at a barrier on entering the port and then paid when leaving.
Owners of the famous restaurant Wellies, Geoffrey Kenyon, yesterday said that he welcomed the initiative, although he would like the parking rates increased.
