THE Balearic Government is coming under fire from all quarters over Magalluf and the fallout from the now infamous sex-game video. The simple truth is that they do not really know how to deal with the situation which has become front page news in all the local newspapers. Opposition groups have rounded on the Balearic Government and are demanding action while the socialist group on the Calvia Council has called for all pub crawls to be banned. The fallout has even reached the Spanish Government in Madrid with the Spanish Ministry for Tourism spending an estimated 500,000 euros on advertisements in the British tabloids this weekend calling for British tourists to behave. Now obviously the government can´t turn a blind eye to Magalluf and they are under pressure to take action not just locally but from Britain as well. The big hotel chains are said to be furious at the antics in Magalluf especially at a time when they are attempting to take the resort up-market. I would suggest that the Balearic Government asked the advice of the many hundreds of British people living on the island who have a wealth of experience in tourism. They are the people who will be able to tell the local authorities how best to deal with the problem. Obviously, there needs to be a security crackdown in the resort because the muggers masquerading as prostitutes are still at work. It is the time to work together to fix Magalluf once and for all.
