Medicos del Mundo, the Spanish branch of the global independent organisation Médecins du Monde (MdM) or Doctors of the World, which works to promote health care as a fundamental right of all people, yesterday complained that “in certain areas” of the Balearics “sex and alcohol are being used to attract clients and also criticised the local authorities for taking “little or no action” to tackle the issue.

On the eve of crisis talks in Palma, the organisation accused local politicians of being “disinterested” in the problem.
According to Medicos del Mundo, the sex games being played in Magalluf are not isolated incidents and that the use of cheap alcohol and sex to lure tourists into bars is common and it poses a serious threat to public order and people’s health, not to mention the region’s image.
