Palma.—A campaign to alert British holiday makers to certain dangers in the popular resort of Sant Antoni de Portmany launched by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in association with British tour operators has been scrapped.
Both local businessmen and politicians in the resort have slammed a new UK safety campaign warning British tourists not “not to walk home alone,” among other things. They state that the warnings are both “false” and “excessive.”
And yesterday, the British Consul General to Spain said that the Embassy respects the local council’s decision.
There were several messages listed on a new leaflet issued by the British Embassy as part of the brand-new safety campaign for UK tourists visiting Ibiza.
