Palma.—The Balearic Ministry for Health announced yesterday that the annual summer health campaign will remain in place until 15 September, at the earliest.
This summer extra steps are being taken to increase the general public’s awareness of what measures are to be taken in the event of the region being placed on one of the three heat alerts.
An alert will be activated if maximum day time temperatures reach, or breach, 33ºC and over night temperatures fail to drop below 22ºC.
The region will be placed on level one, yellow alert if this situation is forecast for one or two days over a period of five days.
Risk
A level 2, orange alert will be activated if these temperatures are expected on three to four consecutive days and a level 3 red alert will be issued if the high temperatures are going to continue for five days or more.
