Balearic hotel rates jump by 23 percent in June

Hotels across the Balearics are far from full at the moment and the monthly Trivago Hotel Index has revealed that average hotel rates have shot up by 23 percent this month.

Palma.—The increase means that Palma continues to have  the most expensive hotels in Spain along with Barcelona, which comes second on the  list, followed by San Sebastian.
The average rate for a hotel room in the Balearics this month is 144 euros, 16 percent higher than in June last year, according to Trivago,  a travel metasearch engine focusing on hotels.
 The site compares prices for over 700,000 hotels from over 200 booking sites, such as Expedia, Booking.comand Priceline.com.
Based in Düsseldorf, Germany, the website receives about 45 million users per month on its 40 international platforms.
