Palma.—Late on Tuesday night, over 50 members of the National and Local Police raided the Playa de Playa in an operation against street prostitution and illegal street trading which lasted long into the early hours of yesterday morning.
This was the first bid security operation of the tourist season and was welcomed by local residents and business people who said that they hope that it will be the first of many to maintain law and order in the holiday resort popular with Germans and Eastern Europeans.
All of the various units involved in the operation mounted their raids simultaneously with the main target of the raid being the infamous calle Jamon and its surrounding area.
