Palma.—There is set to be a huge rise in the number of passengers travelling over the late May bank holiday weekend this year, according to package holiday expert Jet2holidays.
More than 32,000 people will seek the sun and fly off to European beach destinations with Jet2holidays over the long weekend, with a quarter of these flying out of Manchester.
This is a 32 per cent increase on last year’s figures from the region. Over a quarter of holidaymakers have chosen the guaranteed sunshine of the Balearics to escape to, with the traditional favourites of Alicante and the Canary Islands continuing to be popular throughout May.
May has been a successful month for the company as the early bank holiday also saw a big increase in passenger numbers.
During the May Day weekend over 10,000 people travelled with Jet2holidays, another 28 per cent increase compared to 2013.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “This is going to be our busiest late May bank holiday weekend getaway yet from Manchester. “It’s clear that our customers are in search of one thing – sunshine!
