Spanish airport authority AENA, yesterday announced that in 2015, airport taxes are going to be frozen while all existing incentives will remain in place.
The news was welcomed by domestic and international airlines and, in the case of the Balearics, could make operating winter flights more attractive because it will be cheaper for the airlines.
The President of AENA, Jose Manuel Vargas, explained that the move will cost AENA around 150 million euros - an estimated 77 million euros will be lost by freezing airport taxes while a further 75 million euros is lost by offering discounts and incentives at certain airports.
