“We need to take a hard line on Putin...”

Dr. Robin Niblett with the President of the Balearics, Jose Ramon Bauza this week.

This week Majorca hosted a meeting of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, a German “think tank” funded by the centre-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU), and one of the delegates was the Director of Chatham House, Dr. Robin Niblett.

Palma.—Dr. Niblett, who owns a property on the island and is the son of the former Chairman of Conservatives Abroad, Gay Niblett, is a  specialist in international relations and he  has been the Director of Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs) since January 2007.
Yesterday, he explained to the Bulletin that the primary objective of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation is to bring members of  German Chancellor Merkel’s centre right party together with fellow centre right politicians, such as the Partido Popular in Spain or elsewhere in the world. Political experts such as Dr. Niblett also attend these meetings which are   called the “Transatlantic Roundtable” to help discuss and promote good international relations.
And, Dr. Niblett, a frequent panelist at conferences and events around the world as an expert on transatlantic relations and European order, explained yesterday that, obviously, top of the agenda here in Palma was the current crisis in the Ukraine and how best to deal with Russian President Putin.
