Calls for special security plan for Magalluf as “prostitutes” return

Calvia.—The opposition socialists on the Calvia Council are calling for the introduction of a special security plan for Calle Punta Ballena in Magalluf at a time when there have been a wave of incidents involving thieves masquerading as a street prostitutes in the resort.
The women, of African origin, have been preying on tourists and the socialists said that an urgent security operation was needed.
The Calvia Council  has installed security cameras,  placed floodlights on the beach and  promised to increase police numbers but the problem of “prostitutes in Magalluf”continues to cause concern.
The PSOEsocialist say that Calle Punta Ballena is one of the busiest streets in Spain and therefore needs a special policing plan. The Calvia Council and the police have vowed to crackdown on the prostitutes but so far they have been hampered by a legal loophole which means that they can´t simply be arrested.
