With little over two weeks to go until the start of the eighth edition of the Koppaberg Majorca Beach Rugby tournament, organisers Steve Redfern and Suzanne Lions spoke to the Bulletin and explained this year’s event is set to break all records in terms of participation.
Palma.— The popular tournament is to be held in Magalluf on 3 and 4 May and it is the pride and joy of the former England rugby international, who along with Suzanne, takes care of all the details and planning behind the event, and who confirmed that the word is spreading quickly and the response they have received from teams interested in taking part this year has far exceed their expectations.
“This tournament is getting bigger and bigger every year.
“So far 54 teams have already confirmed their presence and we are still waiting for other three or four to confirm.
“Last year we had 42 so numbers have gone up in such a way that we actually had to turn down some requests.
“We managed to increase the number of pitches to seven to accommodate everyone but we are at full capacity right now. We will have teams from all over the world, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium an
