Palma.—Last night at 9pm, the new lights along Magalluf beach were switched on as part of this year’s security operation in the resort.
Having the beach illuminated at night is just one of a series of measures Mayor Manuel Onieva, is going to be introducing this season to increase safety and security in Magalluf.
The lights were switched on in Plaza Jacques Sasson and a number of local residents and business people watched the switch being flicked on.
Pub crawls
Since the end of last season, the Mayor has been holding regular meetings with the various hotel associations, the business community and the police as part of the process of drawing up the 2014 Action Plan.
The Mayor has already unveiled a strict crackdown on pub crawls with organisers now having to apply and pay for special permission from Calvia Council, take out public liability insurance and provide all the relevant fiscal information.
