Early yesterday morning the colossal U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft dropped anchor in the Bay of Palma, while her escort San Jacinto moored up in a secure area in the Dique del Oeste.

Palma.—While the Truman’s  presence in the Bay of Palma proved a headache for the organisers of the Princesa Sofia sailing regatta, the Bay of Palma is its main race field, the arrival of over 6,000 military personnel in Palma for a a four day liberty call was welcomed by Palma’s retail sector.
In fact, commercial association PIMECOactually issued a press release stating that its members are so pleased to see the USNavy return to Palma because of the “hugely important impact it will have on the local economy.”
