INCA RING ROAD GETS THE GREEN LIGHT

An estimated 20,000 vehicles will use Inca’s soon to be built ring road which will comprise of seven roundabouts spread over 6,5 kilometres, the president of the Council of Majorca announced yesterday.

Palma.—President of the Council of Majorca, Maria Salom, Rafel Torres, Mayor of Inca and Mauricio Rovira from the department of Urban planning explained that the project will take 18 months to complete at an estimated cost of 14 million euros.

Construction work is due to start this year, extending until 2015. Rovira said "lanes will be 3,5 metres wide, plus the hard shoulder and slip roads to other secondary roads.

The seven roundabouts will be located in the old Lloseta road, and another just beneath it. The others will be built on the Manacor road, Selva road, one next to Miquel Duran school, another by Berenguer d’Anoia Institute and the seventh one connecting the new ring road with the old Alcudia road.

Rovira added that the number of vehicles expected to pass through the new ring road is "similar to the daily number registered in Manacor road" which due to the size of the project should not pose any major traffic problems.

Inca’s Mayor, Rafel Torres, expressed his satisfaction with the approval of the project, "an old request from the city", and that all the concerns from the local neighbours regarding its construction have been taken into consideration.
