A total of 25 large scale marine mammals were washed up on Balearic beaches last year, the Environment department reported yesterday.
Palma.—Twenty of the cetaceans, which included 21 dolphins, two sperm whales and a goose-beaked whale, where already dead when they were washed out.
One of the carcass’s was so far in its decomposition process that it was impossible for the authorities and experts to identify it.
Out of the 25 animals, 16 were washed out on Majorcan beaches.
Seven in Ibiza and Formentera and two in Minorca.
