Palma.—The sun shone on the Balearics yesterday as thousands of people celebrates Balearic Day.
The Day of the Balearic Islands (Día de les Illes Balears) is a local public holiday on 1 March each year to commemorate the day on which the Balearic Islands’ Statute of Autonomy came into effect in 1983.
Celebrations actually got under way on Friday but the gale force winds and outbreaks of torrential rain put a damper on events.
