Last month, foreign tourists coming to Spain spent a record 3,107 million euros, but sadly the Balearics missed out on the spoils with spending actually falling here.
Palma.—Yesterday, the Ministry for Tourism, Energy and Industry in Madrid announced that the amount of money spent by foreign visitors to the country during January was 10.1 percent up on the same period last year.
The principal reason is that last month Spain welcomed some 3.1 million foreign visitors, 12.3 percent more than in the same month of 2013, the Ministry explained.
The amount sets an all-time record for the first month of the year, topping the previous best established in January 2008 with 2.9 million visitors.
