Palma.—A routine National Police patrol saved the life of a tramp on Monday night.
The National Police confirmed yesterday that the two-man patrol was on duty in the area of Pedro Poveda Park in the neighbourhood of Son Cladera when they heard a series of screams and bangs coming from within the fenced off park.
Startled by the screams, the patrol immediately began to investigate and spotted two men attacking a third man with a meat cleaver and a large club.
Apparently the two men, both Spanish and aged 31 and 32, were shouting “we’re going to kill you” as they laid into the tramp.
