ALCUDIA has a first rate cruise ship terminal, unfortunately there are few cruise ships! Infact over the next three months only two cruise ships will be arriving in Alcudia. The Port of Palma has that number in a day or even an afternoon. Now, obviously the Port of Alcudia is smaller than Palma´s port and can´t handle the larger “floating cities” but surely more ships could be sent “up north.” According to official figures from the Port Authority a record number of vessels will be calling in Palma this year and on some days there could even be a shortage of mooring space. Palma is being forced to turn away foreign warships because there is simply not enough room in the Port. So why not court the cruise ship owners and persuade them to change Palma for Alcudia? I think you will probably find that the majority of cruise ship passengers have been to Palma before so Alcudia could be a welcome change. And also it has alot to offer from scenic beaches to breath-taking countryside. The arrival of one of the smaller cruise ships in Alcudia, with say 500 passengers aboard, would be a welcome sight for many local businesses. I believe that Alcudia has plenty of potential and could easily become Palma´s little sister for cruise ships. A different Majorcan port will also add some variety as well for cruise ship passengers. So come on Alcudia, get your act together and get cruising for some ships.
