The Balearic cruise boom is forecast to continue according to the President of the Balearic Port Authority, Alberto Pons yesterday.
Palma.—Presenting the current cruise programme for the year ahead, Pons, accompanied by the Mayor of Palma, Mateo Isern, said that the number of cruise liners visiting the Balearics last year rose by 10.6 percent and this year, at the moment, a further increase of three percent is forecast.
What is more, Pons said that 1.53 cruise passengers visited the islands last year, 20 percent more than in 2012 and that figure will also rise significantly over the course of this year.
The Mayor of Palma welcomed the figures.
Isern said that the Port of Palma is now the second busiest cruise port in Spain, second to Barcelona, the fourth most popular in the Mediterranean and the twelfth busiest in the World.
