Spain’s new abortion law has sparked protests up and down the country and this Saturday, thousands are expected to take to the streets of Palma.

Palma.—The Movement for the Defense of Abortion, which compromises women’s rights groups, political parties and unions, has organised a demonstration against the new law this Saturday.
The protest will begin at 6.30pm at the main train station in Plaza d’España and from there, the demonstrators will march through Palma to the central Government Delegate headquarters just off the Borne where a protest statement will be read and handed in.
Yesterday, organisers said that, in the wake of the Spanish government’s decision to stand by the law this week, thousands of people are going to travel to Palma from across the island to take part in the mass protest. As the Bulletin reported yesterday, the controversial plan to ban women in Spain from freely opting for abortions overcame a key hurdle on Tuesday when lawmakers voted against a motion to scrap the reform.
