The Balearic government came under further pressure from teachers yesterday.
Palma.—While the government and the teachers’ union were unable to agree as to how large, or little, the turn out was, over 1,000 teachers staged a mass protest outside the Ministry for Education, Culture and Universities in Palma calling for the immediate resignation of the Minister for Education, Joana Maria Camps and the regional secretary general for education, Guillem Estarellas.
The start of last term was disrupted for three weeks by teachers, with the support of parents, spending nearly three weeks on strike in protest over the government’s controversial TILtrilingual teaching programme and now, the first day of the new term has been disrupted again by teachers who continue to complain about being harassed and put under excess pressure by the local government.
