The ruling centre right PP is split across the country over the party’s new abortion law including leading party members in the Balearics.
Palma.—Yesterday, the Director General of the Women’s Institute in the Balearics and other leading members of the local party expressed their opposition to the new abortion law being proposed by central government which will ban women from freely choosing abortion.
Prime Minster Mariano Rajoy’s government has come under fire from the opposition after announcing on 20 December it would roll back a 2010 law that had allowed women to opt freely for abortion in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
