Maritime transport in the Balearics is changing, with more ships ready to transport cargo rather than passengers.
Palma.— The number of passengers using ferries as a means of transport has slumped during the Winter season by almost 80% compared with the Summer months and the demand for transport between the islands and the mainland is now higher for merchant shipping.
The latest figures date back to August 2012 when the number of ferry passengers handled by the Port of Palma were around the 125,000 mark.
