The former Mayor of Calvia and Minister for Tourism and Sport, Carlos Delgado, announced his resignation yesterday morning.
Palma.—His decision came as a shock, even the President of the Balearics, Jose Ramon Bauza, admitted that he had not been expecting it.
But, early yesterday morning, Delgado told the media that he was standing down with immediate effect for “personal reasons”.
At the press conference, Delgado was joined by Bauza and Javier Martinez, who until now had been the Director General for Tourism and will succeed Delgado as the new Minister for tourism. Bauza said Martinez is the “natural” choice for the position because of his experience as Director General working closely with Delgado.
