THE Majorcan small to medium-sized business association (Pimem) said yesterday that Central Government has not taken into account the cost that its smoking laws will mean for bars, cafés and restaurants in the Islands.
Pimem claim that a law to be introduced next year prohibiting smoking in all closed public spaces will mean that in establishments where separating walls have been built to cut off smokers from non-smokers (a move pioneered in the Balearics), no one will recompense owners for the cost of having put up the partition in the first place and then having to take it down again.
