PALMA
THE Secretary for State for Tourism, Joan Mesquida, yesterday handed the Balearic government 2.5 million euros - central government's first installment to help fund the Playa de Palma reform project.
With a further 2.5 million euros being provided by the local government, the financing will be used fundamentally to modernise underground infrastructure such as the drainage system; to build underground collection points for rubbish containers; to set up a recycled water supply network; and to buy plots of land for multi-purpose outdoor activities and to convert to park land.
