Small businesses get together to boost Christmas trade

RETAILERS' business associations in Palma, “Afedeco” and “Pimeco”, presented their Christmas activity campaign yesterday which aims to galvanise trade in the city over the Christmas and New Year period.

Plans include the “Christmas train” which runs through the streets bordering the main shopping areas of Palma, games and entertainment for children, storytelling sessions, craft workshops, roundabouts, a Christmas tree where youngsters can hang up their gift wishes, puppet shows, street parades and prize draws which award tokens for shopping at popular stores.

A HUB FOR SHOPPING AND FUN “Palma, a centre for enjoyment,” was introduced to the public yesterday by Joan Gual de Torrella, President of the Majorcan Chamber of Commerce; Rafael Calle, Commerce Councillor at City Hall; Bartolomé Servera, President of Afedeco; Bernat Coll, President of Pimeco and Pere Pau Mesquida, President of the Balearic Institute for Commerce.

The activity programme will be up and running tomorrow and will last until 8th January.
