Palma.Nearly three quarters of a million voters are expected to head to the polls across the Balearics in this Sunday's general election, 3.3 percent more than in 2008. And, for that reason, the central government delegate to the Balearics, Ramon Socias, said yesterday that a major security operation has been planned to ensure that the day passes off without any incidents.
A total of 2'000 members of the National and Local Police and the Guardia Civil are going to be on duty and patrolling the 384 polling stations. The stations will open at 9am and voting with close at 8pm with results being transmitted by SMS to the smartphones of those who have signed up for the service.
