BALEARIC President Francesc Antich yesterday slammed the regional opposition Partido Popular (PP) and its leader José Ramon Bauza, claiming that the group was not fit to rule in the Islands because it could not even put its own house in order.
Speaking at the Colegio de la Salle in Palma on the occasion of candidate nominations for the 2011 regional elections, Antich said that despite the appointment of Bauzá as leader of the PP, the party was still struggling with its internal politics.
The President alleged that this party strife will mean that it will be impossible for them to govern after the regional elections to be held in May next year.
Meanwhile, Antich said he was happy to yet again give support to Francina Armengol as the Socialist coalition candidate for the Council of Majorca in the elections and also to the re-election of Aina Calvo as the Mayor of Palma. Also attending yesterday's candidature meeting was Central Government Minister, José Ramon Jáuregui who said that it was evident that the PP were keeping their policies under wraps knowing that they were going to be making cuts in investment in social services and employment.
