Pollensa traditional craft fair attracts thousands

SO MANY PEOPLE WANTED TO ATTEND, THE LINE OF PARKED CARS EXTENDED TO ALMOST THREE KILOMETRES

ONCE again the Craft Fair in Pollensa attracted thousands of visitors from all over the island who packed the streets of the town.
The Cloisters Convent played host to the best craftspeople on Majorca, offering their products to those visiting the fair. Stone works, natural soaps, and medicinal herbs, amongst other things, made the traditional Pollensa fair unmissable, said organisers. The cultural and artistic spirit is very deeply rooted among the people of Pollensa who, with their traditional fair, showed their special interpretation of culture, tradition and craft, said organisers. In Calle Bartomeu Aloy the 16th Pollensa Dog Show for local breeds took place. In the Via Pollentia there was a demonstration of the working of an oil mill, which attracted many curious people. The Balearic Ministry for the Environment had a space dedicated to the environment. As well as their stall, Majorca Recycling had a stall, Environmental Education's mobile classroom was there, as was Majorca Recycling bouncy castle. The whole of the Plaza Major was dedicated to food. Majorcan products such as sobrasada, hierbas, pies, cheeses, honeys and eggs were the stars of this show. So many people wanted to attend the fair that the line of parked cars extended to almost three kilometres. The narrowest streets of the town became real bottlenecks. This craft fair has shown that Pollensa knows how to combine tradition with a modern and innovative spirit.
