.—Seven businessmen and women from the Balearics made it into the top 100 of Forbes magazine’s largest fortunes in Spain’s list, published this week.
Their overall value ascends to 6,800 million euros.
With a fortune estimated in the region of 2,200 million, brothers Carlos and Juan Delgado, who own the Banca March and Alba Financial Corporation top the Balearic list followed by the owners of the main hotel chains in the islands.
Iberostar president Miguel Fluxa and his family are next on the list with a fortune thought to be around 1,100 million euros, placing him second in the Balearics and 31st in Spain’s overall ranking.
Gabriel Julia, president of the Meliá Hotels International group is third on the list with 900 million euros, closely followed by Simon Pedro Barcelo, co president of the Barcelo group with 850.
Juan Hidalgo Acera and his family, owners of Globalia, Carmen and Luis Guell from Riu Hotels and Abel Matutes from Matutes group close the local list, compiled by the popular American magazine, which also confirmed Amancio Ortega from Indetex (Zara) as the richest man in Spain.
