Palma parking rates suffer sharpest rise

NEWSDESK

PALMA
PALMA City Council put car parking rates up more than any other council in Spain this year.
The year-on-year rise in the red parking areas was 4.76 percent, from one euro five cents the hour to one euro 10.
In the blue zone, the parking rates went up by 8.33 percent to 65 cents per hour and in the green zone, the increase was by 5.5 percent to 95 cents per hour.

However, despite the highest increase in Spain, Palma is by no means the most expensive city to park in.
The national average rates for parking in the blue zone is 84 cents per hour, while here in Palma, it is only 65 cents, and that is after this year's hikes.

The most expensive city in Spain to park in is Barcelona, according to the findings of the latest “City Parking 2009-2010” study. An hour's parking in Barcelona costs between two euros 42 cents and two euros 94 cents.
