THE Policy Board of the Union Majorca (UM) party which forms part of Balearic president Francesc Antich's ruling Socialist coalition is to meet today to decide whether or not UM parliamentary member Bartomeu Vicens should be expelled from the party following judicial investigation being made into his financial dealings in a Palma industrial estate development.
Vicens claims that until wrong doing has been proved against him, there is no reason why he should leave his government post. Nevertheless, earlier this week, UM had decided to suspend some of Vicens' powers until his standing in relation to the law had been clarified. The Public Prosecutor's call for his imprisonment during further investigation into an alleged scandal had forced the party to rescind some of his public duties.
