PALMA
THE prestigious annual conference of Conservatives Abroad is set to be staged in Majorca next year.
The island was awarded the conference this week after seeing off a rival bid from Paris.
Over 100 delegates from as far afield as Washington DC and Australia will jet into Majorca for the 2009 convention, which is an important event on the party's political calendar.
Delegates at this year's convention in Brussels voted to take the conference to Majorca despite the strong challenge from the French capital.
Branch chairman Peter Newey said it was a tremendous honour for the island to be awarded the event.
