THE Guardia Civil in Soller said yesterday they had arrested a local man suspected of being the author of more than 15 cases of robbery with violence in the space of a month.
Sources close to the investigation said that it is possible that there are more crimes that have not yet come to light, but when the Guardia Civil were faced with a deluge of legal complaints, they decided to set up a watch.
Apparently the culprit always acted late at night. He reportedly waited until shops and businesses were closed to the public and then forced his way in to bars and other establishments through doors and blinds, stealing the cash till and the day's takings.
After a series of discreet operations, the Guardia Civil finally arrested the suspect late on Tuesday. Whilst the detainee made his appearance in front of local magistrates, the security forces continued their enquiries to see if he had anything to do with other robberies which have been registered in Soller over the past few months.
