PALMA
A MUSICAL symphony expressing the beauty of Majorca is travelling to the other side of the world after a successful premiere in Palma.
The Symphony Cala Tuent, written by Australian composer Barry Conyngham, and conducted by Geoffrey Simon, formerly of the Balearic Symphony Orchestra, will be performed in Brisbane on November 7 and in Hong Kong two weeks later.
The piece is a tribute to Cala Tuent, an area of outstanding beauty near Soller. It was performed for the first time this week at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de las Illes Baleares and was received exceptionally well by the large audience.
