REGISTRATIONS of all types of vehicles in the Balearics totalled 3'726 during September, which is a reduction of five percent in comparison with September last year, according to figures published yesterday by the Traffic department (DGT). The number of cars registered, which constitute the largest part of the vehicle sales market, was 2'662 in total in September, which is 10 percent lower than the 2'905 sold in the same month last year. Registrations of motorcycles increased in September, with 514 being sold, which was some 12.8 percent more than in September 2005 when 448 motorcycles were registered. Also, registrations of tractors increased by 88 percent, with 81 being sold. In addition to this, in September 515 lorries and vans were registered in the Balearics, which was a fall of six percent (33 less); 24 buses, a rise of 91 percent (22 more), and one vehicle which does not fit into any of the foregoing groups, a figure identical to September of last year. Throughout the whole of Spain, registrations of all types of vehicles reached 158'949 during September, which was a reduction of 3.56 percent in comparison with September 2005, according to figures released yesterday by the DGT. During the first nine months of the year 1.79 million vehicles were registered, which is an increase of 1.77 percent in comparison with last year. A total of 107'482 cars were registered in September, which was 6.71 percent less than the 114'827 sold in September 2005. As for motorcycles, 21'906 were sold, an increase of 10.28 percent on September 2005.
