EVEN during the high season this year, bars, cafés and restaurants in different tourist areas around Majorca were registering takings as being 25 percent down on what they had been for the same period in 2007.
The food and beverage section of the Small to Medium-sized Business Association of Majorca (PIMEM) reported yesterday said that some of their members had fared even worse on Minorca where figures were down by as much as 30 percent in some places.
According to data which is being received in Palma from affiliates around the Island, there has been a falling-off in tourist activity of around 20 percent this year.
