HOUSE sales in the Balearics during July this year fell by 30 percent in respect of the same month in 2007, four decimal points more than the downturn at a national level which stood at 26 percent.
The National Institute of Statistics reported yesterday that in the Balearics, there were 1'052 buying and selling operations in July in comparison with 1'507 which took place during the same period last year. At a national level there were 46'467 operations, 26.3 percent less than in 2007.
Of the total number of transactions registered in Spain as a whole in July, private property exchanges numbered 41'932 - a fall of 27.2 percent; whilst subsidised housing purchase and sale operations totalled 4'535, a fall of 17.4 percent.
