THE Balearics is the region which had the greatest interannual increase in employment in the Services sector in July, with a 3.7 percent increase in comparison with the same month in 2006.
This is according to provisional figures published yesterday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Situated behind the Balearics are the regions of Extremadura and Castilla and Leon, with interannual increases of 3.4 and 3.1 percent respectively.
At the other end of the scale the lowest increases were in Cantabria (1.3 percent) and Castilla La Mancha (1.6 percent).
On another note, according to the INE, the turnover in the services sector in the Balearics increase in July by 4.8 percent in comparison with the same month last year, four percentage point less than the national average of 8.8 percent.
Throughout Spain the number of employed people increased by 2.5 percent (1.2 percentage points less than in the Balearics).
All subsectors contributed to the increase of 8.8 percent in the services sector turnover at national level.
The subsector for company services was the one which had the greatest increase in July, with 10.9 percent.
This was followed by the commerce sector with 9.2 percent).
Then came transport (8.7 percent), followed by information technology (6.8 percent) and tourism (4.5 percent).
