By Humphrey Carter

PALMA
NINE people have been arrested across Spain and 91 kilos of cocaine resin bound for Majorca seized by the National Police who intercepted the drugs hidden in a shipment of furniture as it was being loaded on to a ship destined for Palma in Valencia last week.

Details of the police operation were given yesterday by the central Government Delegate to the Balearics, Ramon Socias accompanied by police and drugs squad chiefs.

More arrests are not being ruled out but Socias confirmed that the nine currently in detention are all connected with the Colombian drug cartels, although the drugs seized last week originated from Bolivia where they had been carefully hidden inside a shipment of wooden joists and concealed inside a container full of furniture.
