Trial of Briton stabbed in Magalluf opens in Palma

NEWSDESK
THE trial of two British men accused of killing compatriot Daniel Hastelow who was stabbed a total of eight times in Magalluf in January of last year, opened in Palma yesterday.

The prosecution is asking that the two suspects aged 20 and 36 and both from Liverpool, be sentenced to a total of 42 years in jail if found guilty.
However the defense of the prime suspect, 36-year-old Richard R. claims that his client acted in self defense and wants any sentence reduced to seven years. The defense of the second suspect, Anthony Griffiths wants his client released without charge.

Yesterday the court heard how the two Liverpool men and the victim, a night club doorman, had apparently been involved in a fight the night before Hastelow died at his flat in the holiday resort.

The hearing is expected to continue until tomorrow and yesterday afternoon , the first of the witnesses, including members of Calvia Local Police, began to be called.
