THE Spanish National Consumers Union (UCE) spoke yesterday of its satisfaction that the Consumer Affairs Agency of Catalonia is investigating 13 low cost airlines for continuing to charge customers for luggage, a practice denounced in July 2008.
The companies which may be sanctioned include BMI Baby, Ryanair, Thomsonfly and Easyjet. The UCE said charging for luggage separately from the air ticket contravenes a national Air Transport law which says the price of a ticket must, by obligation, include the transport of luggage of limited weight and size.
